Ernie Hudson Reportedly Says Original Actors Are Returning For Jason Reitman’s ‘Ghostbusters’ Movie

It was revealed yesterday that indie director Jason Reitman would be helming and co-writing a brand new Ghostbusters movie that would be directly connected to the 1984 film, ignoring the recent reboot directed by Paul Feig. Jason happens to be the son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman and a young Jason had a small role in Ghostbusters 2.

A new report from TheDailyMail claims that original actor Ernie Hudson has confirmed to DailyMailTV that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and himself would be reprising their roles in the new untitled film.

Hudson, who played ghostbuster Winston Zeddemore, revealed to DailyMailTV that he and co-stars Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray are on board with the project.

Until this is confirmed we’re going to consider this a rumor as Bill Murray is notoriously fussy about making another film, but the inclusion of Oscar-level director Jason Reitman whose credits include Oscar-winning/nominated movies like Juno and Up In The Air could have had an impact.

Was this enough to woo Bill? That remains to be seen.

Sony Pictures and Jason Reitman have yet to reveal the film’s official cast, but it will begin filming this year with a summer 2020 release date being eyed.

Variety added that they weren’t able to confirm if original cast members were returning but Sony was testing teenagers for mystery roles.

Sources couldn’t say if that means that the original cast members will be back, as exact story details are still being kept under wraps but sources say Reitman has begun testing teenagers for four mystery roles.

TheHollywoodReporter giving some tidbits on those teen roles and that the working title is Rust City.

The studio released an official announcement video that Jason Reitman posted on his Twitter account revealing the summer 2020 release.

I can’t wait to hear more official details about the film as the production start is expected to be coming very soon and casting announcements are likely the next big step.
