It looks like the talk that the Train To Busan follow-up Peninsula would be the Mad Max: Fury Road of zombie movies wasn’t simply hyperbole. The first footage from the South Korean film has landed and it certainly looks to have visual cues from Fury Road along with other homages from projects like Resident Evil and The Last of Us.
Peninsula takes place in the same universe as the original film but focuses on new characters and the film’s budget is said to be double than the first one.
Below is the official synopsis and the first-look trailer for the large scale zombie movie.
TRAIN TO BUSAN PRESENTS: PENINSULA – Four years after South Korea’s total decimation in TRAIN TO BUSAN, the zombie thriller that captivated audiences worldwide, acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho brings us PENINSULA, the next nail-biting chapter in his post-apocalyptic world. Jung-seok, a soldier who previously escaped the diseased wasteland, relives the horror when assigned to a covert operation with two simple objectives: retrieve and survive. When his team unexpectedly stumbles upon survivors, their lives will depend on whether the best—or worst—of human nature prevails in the direst of circumstances.
An official North American release date for Peninsula has yet to be announced.
