Earlier this month, it was reported that Elisabeth was in talks to join Universal and Blumhouse productions The Invisible Man. Now, thanks to a new report from Deadline she has officially signed on the project.
The Handmaids Tale star will play Cecilia Kass, the love interest to Adrian Griffin aka The Invisible Man “A billionaire sociopath who made his money by developing an invisibility suit for the Department of Defense.” According to That Hashtag Show, Armie Hammer and Alexander Skarsgård are the studios top choices to play the titular character.
Johnny Depp, who was originally tapped to star in the film when Universal initially mapped out its Dark Universe of films, is not expected to be involved. Tom Cruise in The Mummy was once meant to be the jumping off point for The Dark Universe, but poor critical reception along with low box-office earnings derailed those plans.
Written and directed by Leigh Whannell and produced by Jason Blum, The Invisible Man will begin production this Summer in Australia. There is currently no release date for the film but 2020 is likely.
