Last week HN Entertainment revealed that the title of Edgar Wright’s next film would be Last Night In Soho, a horror film that would focus on a female lead and set in the West London neighborhood Soho.
Variety has confirmed our previous report on the title and added that Anya Taylor-Joy is now taking one of the lead roles, but unknown if it will be the main lead role of the horror flick. Anya Taylor-Joy is best known for her roles in The Witch, Split, Glass, and has a lead role in the X-Men spin-off film New Mutants.
It’ll be interesting to see if Anya Taylor-Joy will end up taking that supporting part in Karen Gillan’s all-female assassin flick Gunpowder Milkshake beforehand which we recently mentioned she was wanted for. That film begins filming this April in Berlin, Germany.
Details on the horror film are scarce but Edgar mentioned to EmpireMagazine the film is influenced by classics such as Don’t Look Now and Repulsion.
We believe the title is a direct nod to the tune of the same name from Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mitch and Tich.
Production is said to begin this summer in London.
We also recently revealed that production designer Marcus Rowland (Baby Driver, Hot Fuzz) will, yet again, be reuniting with Wright for Last Night In Soho.
A release date for Last Night In Soho has yet to be announced.
