Edgar Wright is one of the most unique minds in filmmaking and now the visionary, director behind the Cornetto trilogy, has found his next project!

Wright has taken center stage in the latest issue of Empire Magazine where he discussed his future in the filmmaking business. While his most recent film saw him steer into crime territory, delivering pulse-pounding car chases and spins on the traditional heist movie, he’s about to venture even further from his comedic roots with his next project.

Wright confirmed that his next film will be a psychological horror. It will be influenced by Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion, set in London, and starring a female lead. The film will shoot this summer from a screenplay co-written by himself and Krysty Wilson-Cairns.

“I realised I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years,” Wright says. “With Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.”

Wright also confirmed in the interview that a draft for Baby Driver 2 has been written and will apparently take the story of Ansel Elgort’s Baby further:

“A first draft of Baby Driver 2 exists,” he confirms, adding that it introduces a whole swathe of new characters following the original’s high body-count, and “takes the story further”.

As of now, additional details are being kept under-wraps regarding both projects. However, we can expect to hear casting and production news in the coming months.
