COLLIDER: I heard you might be doing Beverly Hills Cop 4?

MURPHY: “Yeah, that’s what we’re doing after Coming 2 America, we’re Beverly Hills Cop and then the plan is to get back on stage and do stand-up.”

“And then kinda like that’ll be what I’ll be doing mostly, stand-up.”

“I’m not going to make movies two or three a year like I did back in the early days cause I like to be home with the kids.”

Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah had been previously attached to Beverly Hills Cop 4 before they pivoted to the third installment of the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence action-comedy franchise launched by Michael Bay.

Paramount had tasked Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol screenwriters Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec to pen the script.

Previous limited details about the fourth film had Eddie Murphy’s Axel Foley spending most of the time back home in Detroit during an intense summer heatwave.

Filming locations had been expected to include both Detroit and Los Angeles.

A release date for Beverly Hills Cop 4 has yet to be official and updated production dates are unknown.

The original movie released back in 1984 and spawned two subsequent sequels.

After his childhood buddy is murdered while visiting Detroit, rebellious cop Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) follows the leads to Beverly Hills, Calif., under the auspices of a vacation. He checks in with old friend Jenny Summers (Lisa Eilbacher) and starts to believe her boss, art dealer Victor Maitland (Steven Berkoff), might somehow be involved in the murder. However, Lt. Bogomil (Ronny Cox) of the Beverly Hills Police Department does not trust Foley, and hinders his search for evidence.
