Back in June, DiscussingFilm tweeted out a potential January production start for Marvel’s Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness with the expectation filming would take place in the UK.

Early location information on Marvel Studios productions can be a little iffy at times as Atlanta has been previously said to be the main stage filming locations for Captain Marvel and Eternals only for those productions to shoot elsewhere.

However, with the Doctor Strange sequel, HN Entertainment has independently learned the filming location will indeed be in England thanks to a Marvel/Disney source.

With Lucasfilm’s Star Wars productions seemingly moving out to Dagenham Films Studios, it gives Marvel Studios a new constant production space at Pinewood Studios UK (slowing down film productions in Atlanta, Georgia) and we’re currently leaning towards Doctor Strange 2 shooting at Pinewood in Buckinghamshire (where the original was shot).

Black Widow has been shooting at Pinewood over the last couple of months and Eternals is expected to begin shooting next month. HN Entertainment previously first confirmed both those Marvel films would be filming at Pinewood.

It was recently announced by locals in New South Wales, Australia alongside Thor’s Chris Hemsworth that both Shang-Chi and Thor: Love and Thunder would be filmed at Fox Studios Australia in Sydney. Potentially, another stage location that could handle other productions in Phase 5 or beyond and pushing Marvel Studios away from Georgia.

The upcoming WandaVision Disney+ series is expected to have direct ties into the Doctor Strange sequel, as Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch will be co-starring alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. The series will introduce us to an adult version of Monica Rambeau played by Teyonah Parris.

Director Scott Derrickson promised at San Diego Comic-Con that the film will be the first MCU horror film. A potential nod to Nightmare being the big bad of the film.

There were some character rumors circulating that Brother Voodoo and Clea might also appear in the film. Derrickson has suggested in the past the Voodoo has a good shot of showing up.

Scott had also possibly teased the involvement of Namor but quickly deleted/dismissed that tweet.

The January production start might hinge on when Oslen completes filming on the WandaVision series (shows normally take longer than film productions to complete) and if Eternals wraps-up by then. Pushing the start into February-March wouldn’t be hard to imagine.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness was recently given an official release date of May 7th, 2021.
