Disney’s Kevin Mayer Says Reviving Marvel Netflix Series Is A “Possibility”

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Chairman of Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer and International Kevin Mayer said a potential revival for the Marvel series on Netflix is still “a possibility.”

Mayer was asked about the Marvel Netflix series during an interview regarding the complexities of the recent Disney-Fox deal. The questions refers to the cancellations of Luke Cage and Iron Fist in October and Daredevil in November. It is assumed that Jessica Jones and The Punisher will join in that trend as Disney continues to pull its content from Netflix in preparation for the launch of Disney+, which Mayer will oversee.

In response, Mayer said

“They are very high-quality shows. We haven’t yet discussed that, but I would say that’s a possibility.”

Mayer did not elaborate regarding where we could potentially see these shows in the future. Season 2 of Marvel’s The Punisher is set to premiere on Netflix in January, with season 3 of Jessica Jones to follow later in the year. As Chairman of Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer and International, Mayer will be in charge of Disney+, ESPN+ and what is soon to be the majority stake in Hulu.
