It feels like forever since the original trailer for The New Mutants was released online, although it was only two years ago. Originally set to release on April 13, 2018, the film experienced an unorthodox level of delays and reshoots. Before receiving a finalized release date of April 3, 2020, the movie was expected to release in March 2018 and February 2019. Some people thought the film would never be released, an unfortunate victim of the Disney-Fox deal.

Luckily for fans of the movie, cast, and characters, a new trailer has been released…hopefully a sign of good fortune with this production. From what’s shown in the trailer, Disney isn’t shy of the horror-thriller elements that almost made this movie Rated-R. At the same time, fans of Magik should be happy, the Demon Bear and her soul sword appear in all their glory!

While it’s expected for The New Mutants to not carry any ties into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney reportedly allowed the option to Marvel Studios. This would be a great twist for how Marvel introduces mutants formally into the MCU, as this movie appears to be rather self-contained.
