One of the biggest moments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was what the original Iron Man had established with the first button scene featuring Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. The scene basically helped tease that the Avengers were coming and that Tony Stark fit into a larger cinematic universe that included many other characters.
During the Saturn Awards, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealed a deleted version of the cameo that had Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury directly reference both Spider-Man and X-Men. Assuming because those franchises were at other studios that version ultimately wasn’t the version they used and was deleted.
NICK FURY: “As if gamma accidents, radioactive bug-bites, and assorted mutants weren’t enough. I have to deal with a spoiled brat who doesn’t play well with others and wants to keep all his toys to himself.”
TONY STARK: “Who the hell are you?”
NICK FURY: “Nick Fury, director of SHIELD. I’m here to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative.”

You can also watch the original version here as well.
Considering we eventually saw Nick Fury part of the Spider-Man world with Spider-Man: Far From Home (taking cues from the comics and various cartoons), could this potentially telegraph Nick’s involvement in the X-Men movies as well?
I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.
