Cameras have started rolling on Sony’s Morbius movie in the United Kingdom and we have a new addition to the production team to share. HN Entertainment has learned that Nigel Evans will be Morbius’ supervising art director.
His credits include Spider-Man: Far From Home, Deadpool, War For The Planet of The Apes, and The Kid That Would Be King. Nigel was also a production designer on The Flash series.
Morbius is a former Spider-Man villain turned Marvel Comics anti-hero that started out as blood doctor that was trying to cure himself of a rare disease only to accidentally turn himself into a vampire during one of his experiments.
Lead actors Jared Leto (Dr. Michael Morbius) and Adria Arjona (Martine Bancroft) have confirmed on Instagram that filming is currently underway in London, England. A filming location we confirmed a while back.
Safe House/Life director Daniel Espinosa is helming the comic book horror film.
Star Wars: Episode IX actor Matt Smith is also confirmed for an unknown role.
Other Spider-Man spin-offs in the works include Venom 2, Kraven The Hunter, Black Cat, Silver Sable, Jackpot, and Nightwatch. There has been an expectation that Venom 2 will begin filming this fall with a new director as Ruben Fleischer is busy with Zombieland: Double Tap and they’ll have to find a replacement.
Sony Pictures as set Morbius’ release date for July 31st, 2020.
