TheHollywoodReporter has revealed that Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL will officially join Tim Miller’s Terminator: Dark Fate to compose the science fiction action film’s score. Miller and Tom previously worked on Deadpool, when Tim exited Deadpool 2 he also left in solidarity.
Composer Tom Holkenborg, aka Junkie XL, will score Terminator: Dark Fate, the upcoming Terminator sequel that brings series creator James Cameron back as a producer for the first time since 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The film is from director Tim Miller, who collaborated with Holkenborg on 2016’s Deadpool.
Tom is known for his use of synth which could be perfect as we really haven’t had a memorable Terminator score since Terminator 2: Judgement Day. His other credits include Mad Max: Fury Road, Alita: Battle Angel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Tomb Raider.
Dark Fate is a direct sequel to Judgement Day and pretends that the other sequels never happened to focus on a different timeline from those movies. Linda Hamilton is back as Sarah Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger as a different T-800, with a new cast that includes Natalia Reyes, Mackenzie Davis, Gabriel Luna, and Diego Boneta.
It’s expected that the soft-reboot will be the first installment in a potential trilogy if the film is successful enough to deserve future installments.
Paramount Pictures has set the release date for Terminator: Dark Fate for August 1st, going head-to-head against Sony’s Charlie’s Angels.
