‘Deadpool’ Actress Gina Carano Reportedly Joins ‘Star Wars’ Series ‘The Mandalorian’

Yesterday, it was confirmed by Variety that actor Pedro Pascal has joined the cast of Jon Favreau’s Disney+ series The Mandalorian, which would be set within the Star Wars Universe.

Today, there is now a news from TheHollywoodReporter that former MMA fighter turned actress Gina Carano has taken an undisclosed role in the Star Wars streaming series.

Carano is best known for her supporting franchise roles in Deadpool and Fast & The Furious 6. She also led her own action flick Haywire from director Steven Soderbergh.

The Disney+ series is said to be tackling a new Mandalorian character and will take place after the fall of The Empire. Below is the official synopsis for the show from Lucasfilm.

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

While unconfirmed, there have been recent rumblings that Predator actor Carl Weathers is part of the cast as well. Lucasfilm has yet to announce any of the cast for The Mandalorian officially.

Jon Favreau will be writing and producing the series while the show’s directors will include Dave Filoni, Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow.

The Mandalorian is expected to release next fall once the streaming service Disney+ is ready to be launched.
