Recently, Collider reaffirmed previous reports from ThatHashtagShow concerning the Kingsman prequel spin-off Kingsman: The Great Game. A film that is expected to cover the early days of the Kingsman during the era of WWI.
Collider now reports that actor Rhys Ifans (Amazing Spider-Man, Harry Potter franchise) in now in talks for the role of “Russian mystic” in The Great Game. Along with that Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War, Inglourious Basterds) and Charles Dance (Alien 3, Game of Thrones, Godzilla: King of The Monsters) have joined the cast as well. They also mention that Watchmen’s Matthew Goode could take a role too.
Ifans is in discussions to play a dangerous and manipulative Russian mystic, while Brühl and Dance’s roles are being kept under wraps.
ThatHashtagShow originally reported that Brad Pitt had been eyed for the role of Rasputin, assumed to be a villain of the film. There is a good chance that Ifans nabs that part and they weren’t able to make it work with Pitt. He’s played plenty of villains before.
Confirmed cast members include Harris Dickinson as main character Condrad and veteran actor Ralph Fiennes is also part the Matthew Vaughn film. As previously reported, the prequel film is said to begin production this January in London. Kingsman 3 is still expected to happen as Collider has reaffirmed previous chatter that it would shoot back-to-back with The Great Game. 20th Century Fox has seemingly set the release date for Kingsman: The Great Game for November 9th, 2019.
