UPDATE: Composer Clint Mansell Confirmed To Reunite With Director Ben Wheatley For His Next Film ‘Rebecca’ Starring Armie Hammer and Lily James

In February 2018, I first broke the news at OmegaUnderground that Ben Wheatley’s (Free Fire) next film would be a remake of the Alfred Hitchcock film Rebecca based on the novel by Daphne du Maurier. The reporting was confirmed when it was revealed that Armie Hammer (Free Fire) and Lily James (Baby Driver) are attached to star as the leads in the gothic romance film.

The film based on the 1938 novel by Daphne du Maurier, follows a woman who marries a widower, but as his servants become more hostile, the newlywed grows more fearful, until she eventually learns the secret of what really happened to his first wife.

HN Entertainment has now learned that it’s expected that composer Clint Mansell will again reunite with Ben for Rebecca, scoring the film. Mansell previously worked with Wheatley on his film High-Rise. Clint’s film credits include Requiem For A Dream, Ghost In The Shell, Moon, Mute, and Black Swan. He’s also been involved with DC Comics series such as Titans and Doom Patrol.

UPDATE: After publishing, we uncovered Clint confirming this recently to The405

“Well, I’m working on the British TV show, Peaky Blinders at the moment. And then I’m gonna do another film with Ben Wheatley, which is a remake of Hitchcock’s Rebecca, which I’m very excited about.”

Previously, we revealed that the film’s production team includes cinematographer Laurie Rose (Overlord, Free Fire) and production designer Sarah Greenwood (Darkest Hour, Sherlock Holmes).

Filming is also being eyed to begin this May in the United Kingdom.

A release date for Rebecca has yet to be announced.
