Yesterday, a whole bunch of casting additions were announced for Eddie Murphy’s Coming To America sequel directed by Craig Brewer.
The first batch came from TheHollywoodReporter that announced that Wesley Snipes, Kiki Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk, The Old Guard), and comedian Leslie Jones (SNL, Ghostbusters) would be new additions to the cast.
The new story sees Akeem, now set to become king, discovering he has a son he never knew about, a street-savvy Queens native named Lavelle. Honoring his father’s dying wish to groom his son as a new crowned prince, Akeem must once again return to America.
Jermaine Fowler is set to play Akeem’s son Lavelle while Kiki will play Akeem’s daughter.
Previously announced cast members returning include Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, and John Amos.
Collider adds that Louie Anderson and Paul Bates will also be returning alongside new additions such as Teyana Taylor, Michael Blackson, and Rick Ross.
Paramount has set the release for December 18th, 2020.
