Comedian and Mad TV alumni Bobby Lee has revealed on his new podcast with Adam Santino titled Bad Friends (spotted by ThatHashtagShow), that he has recently auditioned for an unnamed Marvel film.
SANTINO: Did you really audition for a Marvel movie today?
LEE: “Yeah, I did.”
SANTINO: Did you feel good about it?
LEE: “The first take, no.”
Then Andrew proceeded to bust Bobby Lee’s chops about playing a superhero which sort of came off rude, then again, I don’t know Andrew’s comedy or his relationship with Bobby too well.
Check out the exchange below which starts around the 10 minute 30-second mark (NSFW).
There are plenty of Marvel projects casting at the moment including Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, Shang-Chi & The Legend of The Ten Rings and others. The third Spider-Man movie is also expected to begin shooting this summer, although, there isn’t word if casting has started for it.
It’s not like Marvel doesn’t like to hire comedians.
Fellow stand-up comedian Hannibal Buress played a gym teacher in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
On Cinema’s Gregg Turkington and Tim Heidecker had cameos in the Ant-Man films.
Interesting enough, Bobby mentions fellow Asian actor Benedict Wong, who is confirmed to be reprising his role as Wong in the Doctor Strange sequel when defending himself against Andrew’s awkward tirade.
Bobby was most recently seen on the Netflix series Love and the reboot of Magnum P.I. airing on CBS.
