Colin Farrell Suggests Penguin Doesn’t Have Many Scenes in ‘The Batman’

With a rogues gallery worth of villains expected to appear in The Batman such as Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, and Carmine Falcone some of those characters are likely to get more screentime than others.

While speaking with GMA Network, actor Colin Farrell alludes to his role as Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin not having many scenes in the upcoming reboot.

FARRELL: “I had only started it and I can’t wait to get back. The creation of it, the aesthetic of the character, has been fun and I really am so excited to get back and explore it. And I haven’t got that much to do. I have a certain amount in the film. I am not all over it by any means. But there are a couple of some tasty scenes I have in it and my creation and I can’t wait to get back. Yeah, I totally feel like it is something that I have not had the opportunity to explore before. It feels original and fun. But I am only at the start of the journey so I can’t wait to get back and really get into it.”

Colin only having a couple of scenes isn’t shocking considering the high-volume of villains in the film. Having a couple of them introduced in the film to have larger roles further into Matt Reeves’ Batman trilogy would make sense.

The Penguin taking a larger role in the sequels feels like what is going to happen.

On the production front, filming was halted and it only managed to get 25% of the shoot completed before the pandemic paused production, but we still don’t have word from Warner Bros. when they expect to resume production in the United Kingdom.

The studio recently gave The Batman a new release date of October 1st, 2021. That new date suggests they plan on resuming filming sometime in the fall, but that is obviously reliant on things being safe to do so by then.
