Another villain may have been just cast in WB’s The Batman.
Deadline reports that Irish actor Colin Farrell is in talks to play the role of Gotham crime boss Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin.
Warner Bros is negotiating with Colin Farrell to play The Penguin in the Matt Reeves-directed The Batman.
Colin Farrell recently worked with Warner Bros. for Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.
Danny DeVito previously played the role in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns.
Colin Farrell had once been rumored for a leading role in Justice League Dark years back.
Matt Reeves will be directing The Batman and co-writing the script.
Farrell would join a cast that would include Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse, Tenet) as Bruce Wayne aka Batman, Zoe Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men: First Class) as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, Paul Dano (Looper, There Will Be Blood) aka Edward Nashton aka The Riddler, and Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, No Time To Die) as Jim Gordon.
Andy Serkis (Black Panther, The Lord of The Rings trilogy) is also in talks to take the role of butler Alfred Pennyworth.
The Batman is set to begin filming next year at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England and has a release date of June 25th, 2021.
