Warner Bros. has set Christopher Nolan’s next directorial feature for next summer.
According to Variety, Nolan’s next movie will be an event film set to open in theaters on July 17, 2020. As of now, the film is currently untitled, with no actors, story detail, or anything else.
With a prime summer release date, Warner Bros already has complete confidence in Nolan’s event film, as per usual. Nolan has enjoyed plenty of success in the month of July The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises, and Dunkirk, all had opening weekend and overall box office success for the studio.
Despite the success the film will face some stiff competition at the Box Office. Paramount’s third SpongeBob Movie and Fox’s Bob’s Burgers also open July 17, 2020. Disney’s Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, opens up a week later on July 24, 2020.
Nolan’s most recent outing, the 2017 war drama Dunkirk, earned him his first Academy Award nomination for Best Director. To date, he’s released 10 feature films, which have grossed nearly $5 billion worldwide and earned a total of 34 Oscar nominations and ten victories.
