A recent post on Twitter by writer/director Christopher McQuarrie might confirm that Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 might actually be a two-parter similar to what we saw with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
I think some had assumed this given that the two films were announced at the same time, but it looks like via the very first storyboard image from artist Mark Bristol they will indeed be one movie split into two parts.

Potentially alluding to a cliffhanger in the seven installment.
HN Entertainment recently reported that Mission: Impossible 7 is filming primarily in England and is expected to shoot at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden (where the previous two films have shot) in Watford. This would likely now mean that Mission: Impossible 8 will also film there too given they’ll be shot back-to-back.
Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell are currently the only two cast members confirmed by McQuarrie for both movies. The director has kept mum about Rebecca Ferguson’s return or how large her role will be in these two sequels (Rebecca has stated publicly she would be returning though).
I don’t make those decisions. The story does. I’m just as curious as you are to see what happens.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed that Vanessa Kirby’s White Widow makes a return at the very least.
Paramount Pictures set the films’ release dates for July 23rd, 2021 and August 5th, 2022.
