It looks we’ll be getting an Avengers reunion with the Little Shop of Horrors remake from Warner Bros. and Greg Berlanti.
TheHollywoodReporter says that Captain America actor Chris Evans is in talks with the studio to take the role of sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello, played by Steve Martin in the Frank Oz film from 1986.
Evans recently played a convincing jerk in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out.
Also, they are confirming the previous reporting that Rocketman actor Taron Egerton and recent Oscar-nominee Scarlett Johansson (Jojo Rabbit, Marriage Story) are in various levels of discussions to take the lead roles of Seymour and Audrey.
Billy Porter is set to play Audrey II, the man-eating and singer alien plant.
Greg Berlanti will be directing.
Little Shop of Horrors got approved for a California tax credit where it’s expected to shoot.
HN Entertainment had previously confirmed that Baby Driver and Last Night In Solo production designer Marcus Rowland would be working on the musical.
Meek flower shop assistant Seymour (Rick Moranis) pines for co-worker Audrey (Ellen Greene). During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey’s boyfriend, Orin (Steve Martin), to the plant after Orin’s accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.
