TheHollywoodReporter has revealed that British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) will play the villain in Antoine Fuqua’s science fiction thriller Infinite that already stars Mark Wahlberg (replaced Chris Evans) as the film’s lead.
Ejiofor will play a member of the Infinite who has found a way to stop the reincarnation process and plans to use it on his own kind.
Ejiofor isn’t a stranger to playing villains as he played Scar in the recent box office smash The Lion King and we are set to see him eventually become a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Strange’s Baron Mordo.
They also add that Maze Runner’s Dylan O’Brien and Kingsman’s Sophie Cookson have also taken roles in the film.
A group of near-immortal men and women who are reincarnated over the centuries and known as “the Infinite.” To defeat an evil mastermind, the group must rely on a man who suffers from schizophrenia and who will have to learn that all his vivid dreams are actually memories from past lives in order to defeat the villain.
Filming will begin later this month in London, England.
Chiwetel is coming off filming the Netflix comic book film The Old Guard starring Charlize Theron, which also involves a group of immortals.
It’s expected he’ll reprise the role of Mordo in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, but that has yet to be officially announced by Marvel Studios.
Infinite has been given a release date of August 7th, 2020 by Paramount Pictures.
