HN Entertainment has been informed that art director Max Klaentschi is expected to work on HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel series pilot, whose working title is Bloodmoon.
Max Klaentschi recently worked on the critically-acclaimed HBO miniseries Chernobyl, which is certainly on its way to a bevy of awards. Although his previous credits are relatively limited, his work on the breathtaking true story has surely impressed those behind the spin-off.
The upcoming Game of Thrones prequel is being written and showrun by Jane Goldman (Kingsman), with S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones, The Defenders) at the helm. Klaentschi’s skills should come into play in making it as visually epic as Game of Thrones.
We previously reported that Chernobyl production designer Luke Hull is set to work on the show. It’s clear that Chernobyl has made HBO enough confident to use much of its crew for a prequel series based on the biggest show of the decade.
The upcoming series is said to take place many years before the events of the recently finished series and will focus on the origin of the White Walkers.
The series currently boasts an impressive cast composed of Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Jamie Campbell Bower, Toby Regbo, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, Ivanno Jeremiah, Denise Gough, and Sheila Atim.
The Game of Thrones prequel (Bloodmoon) is expected to hit HBO in 2020.
