Netflix has officially announced that their Image Comics adaption The Old Guard has added two international actors with Matthias Schoenaerts and Luca Marinelli.

The new additions will join the previously announced cast of Charlize Theron (Atomic Blonde, Mad Max: Fury Road), KiKi Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk), and Marwan Kenzari (Aladdin). The Old Guard will be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood from a script penned by the comic’s creator Greg Rucka.

A small group of soldiers, led by a woman named Andy, who are inexplicably immortal and have been working as mercenaries through the ages. The novelty of not dying long gone, the group gets a jolt in their bones when they discover the existence of a new immortal, a black woman serving in the Marines, at the same time as a nefarious organization captures their undying actions on camera.

Matthias is best known for the films Rust and Bone, Red Sparrow, and The Danish Girl.

Filming will take place at Shepperton Studios in the United Kingdom.

HN previously posted that the film’s production team includes production designer Paul Kirby (Hellboy, Kingsman: The Secret Service), stunt coordinator Brycen Counts (Ant-Man and The Wasp, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home), 2nd unit director Jeff Habberstad (Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and The Wasp), and fight choreographer Daniel Hernandez (Logan, John Wick 1-3, Avengers: Endgame, Birds of Prey).

Netflix has yet to announce an official release date.
