HN Entertainment has learned Netflix’s comic book action film The Old Guard is expected to add Brycen Counts as the comic book film’s stunt coordinator, who has plenty of experience working on multiple comic book films over his career. Brycen’s recent credits as an assistant stunt coordinator include Spider-Man: Homecoming, Ant-Man and The Wasp, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Kong: Skull Island.
The film is based on the Greg Rucka comic book from Image Comics, which will also have a script penned by Rucka with Gina Prince-Bythewood (former Silver and Black director) set to direct Oscar-winner Charlize Theron (Atomic Blonde) and KiKi Layne (If Beale Street Could Talk) in the lead roles.
A small group of soldiers, led by a woman named Andy, who are inexplicably immortal and have been working as mercenaries through the ages. The novelty of not dying long gone, the group gets a jolt in their bones when they discover the existence of a new immortal, a black woman serving in the Marines, at the same time as a nefarious organization captures their undying actions on camera.
We previously revealed filming will be taking place at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England along with other crew members that will include production designer Paul Kirby (Hellboy, Kingsman: The Secret Service), 2nd unit director Jeff Habberstad (Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and The Wasp), and fight choreographer Daniel Hernandez (Logan, John Wick 1-3, Avengers: Endgame, Birds of Prey).
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for The Old Guard.
