Atwell confirmed the news as well on her own account.

The British actress is best known for playing the Marvel character Agent Peggy Carter, who ended up landing her own short-lived series on ABC.

Tom Cruise and Rebecca Ferguson are expected to reprise their roles of Ethan Hunt and Ilsa Faust as well.

It remains to be seen if we’ll see the return of Vanessa Kirby’s White Widow.

At this point, it’s unclear if Atwell’s new role will simply be for one or both sequels.

McQuarrie was revealed last year as writing and directing both Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 for Skydance/Paramount Pictures. After the massive success of Mission: Impossible – Fallout it was only a matter of time for the studio doubled-down on Christopher tackling more installments.

Mission: Impossible 7 is set for release on July 23rd, 2021 and Mission: Impossible 8 will be out on August 5th, 2022.
