Cannes Film Festival Is The Latest Big Event Postponed Because of Coronavirus Concerns

Shocking nobody, the Cannes Film Festival has now been officially postponed and won’t be taking place in May as originally planned.

The festival made the announcement today on their Twitter account and their official website

Here is the statement from Twitter.

Due to the health crisis and the development of the French and international situation, the Festival de Cannes will no longer be able to take place on the dates planned, from May 12 to 23.

Cannes joins other large events including E3 2020 and CinemaCon 2020.

The French festival also is one of the biggest film markets of the year and this postponement could impact the distribution of multiple international releases, big and small.

There is a good chance that other summer events like San Diego Comic-Con 2020 in July could be next.
