Little America actor Haaz Sleiman has revealed while speaking with NewNowNext that he shares an intimate kissing scene in Marvel’s Eternals with Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta, Widows, Godzilla vs Kong), we’ve known for a while that the Marvel Studios film would feature a gay character and it looks like Brian’s Phastos will be that character.

NNN: So we’ll also get a gay kiss in The Eternals?

SLEIMAN: “Oh, yeah, absolutely, and it’s a beautiful, very moving kiss. Everyone cried on set. For me it’s very important to show how loving and beautiful a queer family can be. Brian Tyree Henry is such a tremendous actor and brought so much beauty into this part, and at one point I saw a child in his eyes, and I think it’s important for the world to be reminded that we in the queer community were all children at one point. We forget that because we’re always depicted as sexual or rebellious. We forget to connect on that human part.”

Also adding that Phastos will have a family (seemingly will include Haaz’s character) which had been teased earlier by Kevin Feige.

Originally, we thought that Hercules could be a strong candidate to be this gay/bisexual/queer character feature in Eternals based on early casting calls, but it looks like it was Phastos the entire time.

Marvel Studios’ The Eternals features an exciting new team of Super Heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ancient aliens who have been living on Earth in secret for thousands of years. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, an unexpected tragedy forces them out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s most ancient enemy, The Deviants.

The outstanding ensemble cast include Richard Madden as the all-powerful Ikaris, Gemma Chan as humankind-loving Sersi, Kumail Nanjiani as the cosmic-powered Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as the super-fast Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as the intelligent inventor Phastos, Salma Hayak as the wise and spiritual leader Ajak, Lia McHugh as the eternally young, old-coul Sprite, Don Lee as the powerful Gilgamesh, Barry Keoghan as the aloof longer Druig, and Angelina Jolie as the fierce warrior Thena. Kit Harrington was cast as Dane Whitman.

Eternals is set to be released on November 6th and there is a good chance they show-off some footage at San Diego Comic-Con.
