Variety is reporting that Leonardo DiCaprio won’t be starring in Nightmare Alley after all.
They say that Bradley Cooper has been offered the lead role in the Guillermo del Toro remake after DiCaprio couldn’t reach a deal. Not a terrible second choice.
Bradley Cooper is in early talks to star in Guillermo del Toro and Fox Searchlight’s adaptation of “Nightmare Alley.”
Sources say Cooper recently received an offer and while it’s currently unclear if a deal will close, sources indicate both sides have engaged in talks. Cooper would take the place of Leonardo DiCaprio, who ended up passing on the project after a deal could not be reached.
An ambitious young con-man who teams up with a female psychiatrist who is even more corrupt than he is. At first, they enjoy success fleecing people with their mentalist act, but then she turns the tables on him, out-manipulating the manipulator.
HN Entertainment previously reported that filming would take place from September 30th to January 28th in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Along with the production team will include cinematographer Dan Laustsen (The Shape of Water), production designer Tamara Deverell (The Strain, Star Trek: Discovery), and costume designer Luis Sequeira (The Shape of Water, IT, IT: Chapter 2, The Strain).
Nightmare Alley is currently without an official release date but late 2020 is a good bet.
