‘Blindspotting’ Actor Daveed Diggs In Talks To Voice Sebastian The Crab In Disney’s ‘The Little Mermaid’

Variety reports that Disney is currently in talks with actor Daveed Diggs (Snowpiercer, Blindspotting) to voice the role of Sebastian The Crab in Rob Marshall’s “live-action” remake of The Little Mermaid.

“Hamilton” star Daveed Diggs is in talks to play Sebastian in Disney’s live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid.”

The assumption has been that Sebastian, Scuttle (Akwafina), and Flounder (Jacob Tremblay) will be CGI characters.

Halle Bailey will play Princess Ariel, Javier Bardem her father King Triton, and Melissa McCarthy will play Ursula The Sea Witch.

Rob Marshall has previously directed Disney films such as Into The Woods, Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Mary Poppins Returns.

The Little Mermaid has yet to be given an official release date by Disney.

In Disney’s beguiling animated romp, rebellious 16-year-old mermaid Ariel is fascinated with life on land. On one of her visits to the surface, which are forbidden by her controlling father, King Triton, she falls for a human prince. Determined to be with her new love, Ariel makes a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula to become human for three days. But when plans go awry for the star-crossed lovers, the king must make the ultimate sacrifice for his daughter.
