TheWrap is reporting that British actor Andy Serkis (The Lord of The Rings Trilogy, War For The Planet of The Apes) will be reuniting with his Dawn of The Planet of The Apes director Matt Reeves for his Batman trilogy as he’s now in talks to take the role of Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman.
Andy Serkis is in talks to play Alfred Pennyworth in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” an individual with knowledge of the project exclusively told TheWrap.
Alfred is the family butler of the Wayne family and is basically the only family Bruce Wayne has after his parents are murdered in front of him.
The role has been previously played by Michael Caine and Jeremy Irons.
Andy Serkis is no stranger to the comic book genre as he played Marvel Comics villain Klaue in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther.
He’ll also be directing Tom Hardy in the Venom sequel which is said to begin filming this fall.
Fans had been pushing Andy for the role of Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin a role that has yet to be cast.
Serkis would be joining as that includes Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul as Edward Nashton, and Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon.
Filming will begin next year at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Watford, England.
The Batman has been given the official release date of June 25th, 2021.
