Not too long ago Dwayne Johnson took to social media to tease a possible March 2020 production start for his DC Comics movie Black Adam.
However, with his Netflix movie, Red Notice co-starring with Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) shoot pushed to begin in early 2020 that seemingly would see Black Adam given a bit of delay.
Well, we know how much of a delay Black Adam will be getting via producer Hiram Garcia, who told Collider they plan on getting cameras rolling by late 2020 with director Jaume Collet-Serra, who has closed his deal to helm.
GARCIA: “The success of Shazam! was awesome for us and it was important for us to launch that, get that out into the world and begin crafting this universe. It’s a big thing for us to create this universe, this DC section of the universe, with characters we have planned to bring into it, headlined by Shazam and Black Adam.”
“Jaume Collet-Serra, he just closed his deal, which we’re very excited about, and the plan is to begin filming that end of next year.”
The next step will seemingly be casting the other major roles in the comic book flick.
Warner Bros. has yet to give Black Adam an official release date but late 2021 or early 2022 would make a lot of sense.
A Shazam! sequel is also on the horizon with Zachary Levi suggesting a crossover with Black Adam likely wouldn’t happen until Black Adam 2 or Shazam! 3.
