Yesterday, it was reported by MakingStarWars that Michael Biehn (Aliens, Terminator, Planet Terror) would be playing a bounty hunter in the second season of Lucasfilm’s live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian. They also mentioned that comedian Bill Burr would be returning as the smart-mouth bounty hunter Mayfield.
Deadline is supporting that report today, however, without giving proper citation to MakingStarWars for first reporting it.
SlashFilm reported not too long ago that Rosario Dawson (Death Proof, Sin City) would be playing Ahsoka Tano in the series.
HN Entertainment was able to confirm that director Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Planet Terror, Alita: Battle Angel) joins Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Carl Weathers as Season 2 directors.
We’ll likely keep hearing about other new additions to the cast in the coming weeks.
Production on Season 2 has wrapped earlier this month and there has been an expectation that Disney will begin airing the show on Disney+ starting in October, however, the coronavirus could end up delaying projects across the board.
Other live-action Star Wars series on the horizon include a prequel show focusing on Diego Luna’s Rebellion spy Cassian Andor and Ewan McGregors’ Kenobi series as well directed by Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian).
It’ll be interesting to see if we’ll be getting Star Wars: Rebels characters getting their live-action debuts in these shows.
