Take the following with a grain of salt, but there might be a slim chance that the Squadron Supreme might be entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe soon.
BleedingCool believes that the Loki series will be the entry point for the Squadron Supreme to show up.
Loki is a new TV series currently being made, starring Tom Hiddleston, reprising his role from Thor and Avengers, and to air on Disney +. Well, Bleeding Cool gets the word that the production team for the show has been ordering all manner of material, with the common thread being the appearance of the Squadron Supreme.
A more recent iteration of team, set in Marvel’s mainstream 616 reality, features characters from numerous alternate universes, such as the Nighthawk from Supreme Power, a Hyperion from a reality that had been destroyed upon colliding with another universe, Doctor Spectrum from the world of the Great Society, Blur from the New Universe, and Warrior Woman from a Secret Wars tie-in, posing as Power Princess.
While in the Avengers titles, the Squadron Supreme of America have been created by Thunderbolt Ross and Phil Coulson, as a national alternative to the international Avengers, with Hyperion, Power Princess, Nighthawk, Blur, and Doctor Spectrum as their leader.
While we don’t normally get too many live-action rumblings from BleedingCool they were the first outlet to mention Marvel Studios was considering a Secret War series for Disney+ before it was mentioned by Daniel Richtman.
The Squadron Supreme originally started out as a group called the Squadron Sinister formed by The Grandmaster (played by Jeff Goldblum in Thor: Ragnarok) to battle Kang The Conqueror’s champions, the Avengers.
The characters which are were obviously Marvel’s take on the Justice League were first introduced in the pages of Avengers #70 from 1969.
Here is the roster of the team.
- Zhib-Ran aka Hyperion
- Richmond aka Nighthawk
- Zarda aka Power Princess
- Alice Nugent/Kenji Obatu/Joseph Ledger/Billy Roberts aka Doctor Spectrum
- Kingsley Rice aka Amphibian
- Skymax aka The Skrullian Skymaster (Skrull)
- James Dore Jr. aka Blue Eagle
- James Sanders aka Whizzer
- Wyatt McDonald aka Golden Archer
- Linda Lewis aka Lady Lark
- Tom Thumb
Kang The Conqueror has been previously teased as possibly showing up too and given that the Time Variance Agency is confirmed for the show, which has connections to Kang that might come together.
Considering that other dimensions, timelines and the Multiverse potentially being explored in Loki it would make a lot of sense on paper for them to include a team like Squadron Supreme and other characters from the Multiverse.
Both WandaVision and Loki are expected to lead directly into Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.
Loki is currently shooting in Atlanta, Georgia with director Kate Herron overseeing the episodes starring Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
The series is set to begin airing sometime next year exclusively on Disney+.
