While last week saw 20th Century Fox’s original horror flick Underwater flop, there seem to be more optimistic outlooks for Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys For Life, despite some previously weak trailers for the film it’s getting some positive buzz from critics.

BoxOffice is projecting that film could end up making hefty $40+ million over the three day weekend and on the high end of $50+ million for the four day weekend.

While the oddly marketed Dolittle reboot from Universal Pictures starring Robert Downey Jr. is looking towards $20-25 million for the long weekend which isn’t the best news given the film’s pricey $175 million budget. It’ll need one helluva boost from the foreign markets.

On a budget said to be in the range of $90 million there is a good chance with the help of overseas box office Bad Boys For Life will ultimately turn a profit for Sony Pictures after some other delayed sequels and unwanted reboots have floundered recently.

Sony’s Charlie’s Angels reboot failed to connect with audiences along with their soft-reboot Men In Black: International.

Nabbing a win early on in 2020 should help with the studio’s confidence.

A plus note, the studio debuted the trailer for their Spider-Man spinoff Morbius which seemed to get a mostly positive reaction from fans on top of the confirmation nods in the trailer that it directly connects with the last two Spider-Man films.

The third installment’s cast includes Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Nunez, Kate Del Castillo, Nicky Jam, and Joe Pantoliano.

Old-school cops Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett team up to take down the vicious leader of a Miami drug cartel. Newly created elite team AMMO of the Miami police department along with Mike and Marcus go up against the ruthless Armando Armas.
