The third installment in the Jurassic World trilogy is still in development stages but we have a couple crew updates to share.

HN Entertainment has learned that veteran special effects guru Michael Lantieri is expected to be the special effects supervisor on the third film. He’s previously worked on Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (won an Oscar for his work), Jurassic Park III, Jurassic World, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in various capacities on the effects teams.

Michael’s lengthy and fantastic resume as a special effects coordinator includes Back To The Future II, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Poltergeist II, Mars Attacks!, Alice In Wonderland, Casper, The Witches of Eastwick, Congo, Death Becomes Her, Minority Report, The Flintstones, Hook, Hulk, Twins, and more recently his television work on the last two seasons of Westworld.

Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are expected to reprise their roles in the sequel that will see the dinosaurs now roaming free in the United States.

I previously revealed at OmegaUnderground that the film’s crew would also include Jurassic World cinematographer Jonathan Schwartzman (Last Christmas, Amazing Spider-Man) and creature effects lead Neal Scanlan (Prometheus, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi) would be returning.

Legendary effects veteran Phil Tippett (Willow, RoboCop, Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, Starship Troopers, The Empire Strikes Back) is also said to be returning.

Colin Trevorrow will return to direct Jurassic World 3 via a script that he co-wrote with Emily Carmichael from a story by Derek Connelly.

Chris Pratt recently revealed his excitement for the project while speaking with MTVNews, suggesting the pitch has blown him away and teased a possible return for Laura Dern’s Ellie Sattler.

“I can’t say anything, but I can tell you when I heard the pitch, I was blown away. I can’t believe that we’re going to make that movie, and I can’t believe they found a way to deliver on the promise of the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Like, ‘Wait, what? The island has blown up. The animals are out, we can’t put them back in the box. What are we going to do? How are not only these dinosaurs but this technology moving forward going to affect the planet?’ We jump forward, and it’s like, ‘Oh! Oh, right! Oh, damn!’ He’s [Colin Trevorrow] been working his but off on it. it’s going to be pretty epic.”

“I just saw Laura [Dern] too the other day and we discussed this a little bit, some of this stuff. You will not be disappointed.”

Universal has slated Jurassic World 3 for a release date of June 11th, 2021.
