We’ve seen plenty of concept artwork that Marvel Studios artists have cooked up in the development process that never made it in the final films. Spider-Man’s black suit was recently spotted in other Avengers: Infinity War artwork and for Thor: The Dark World they did a wave of mock-up designs for characters/aliens from the Planet Hulk comics that never made it into the final film.
It looks like there was one of these concept art pieces made for Thanos’ team The Black Order. Concept artist Justin Sweet has plenty of high-profile projects under his belt including Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Black Panther, Thor: The Dark World, The Jungle Book, and Avengers: Infinity War.
Justin recently posted a piece of his early concept art from 2016 for Avengers: Infinity War that included Thanos, the Black Order, and some cloaked followers/zealots. Interesting enough, while Supergiant was seemingly missing in the film she was in this piece of concept art, so at one point they were considering of using her. Perhaps, Nebula having a similar design and giving Ebony Maw her powers meant they didn’t have much need for her.
It’s unlikely we’ll end up seeing Supergiant in Avengers 4 but not every Marvel Comics character will get their chance to be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
