HN Entertainment has learned that Avengers: Endgame stunt coordinator Monique Ganderton is expected to be joining the production team on Lana Wachowski’s Matrix 4, which is said to begin shooting in February under the working title of Project Ice Cream.
Ganderton is best known for being the stunt coordinator on Avengers: Endgame along with additional photography for Atomic Blonde, Chaos Walking, Captain Marvel, Thor: Ragnarok, and Avengers: Infinity War.
Stunts and action design is a huge aspect of the Matrix franchise, so we can’t wait to see what they end up coming up with.
Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Jada Pinkett-Smith will be returning alongside newcomers that include Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman, Watchmen), Neil Patrick Harris (Gone Girl, Starship Troopers), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist, Godzilla vs Kong), and the latest addition of Jonathan Groff (Frozen, Frozen 2, Mindhunter).
There has been some speculation that both Neil Patrick Harris and Groff could be playing villains in this new movie (possibly Agents?).
It’ll be interesting to see if this upcoming film will be the first in a brand new trilogy with Warner Bros. pursuing Matrix 5 and Matrix 6 on top of this new movie.
While the original film is considered a sci-fi/action classic, the two sequels seemed to be rushed and not up to snuff, hopefully, Matrix 4 will return the franchise to its roots.
Matrix 4 will officially be released by Warner Bros. on May 21st, 2021.
THE MATRIX – Neo (Keanu Reeves) believes that Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), an elusive figure considered to be the most dangerous man alive, can answer his question — What is the Matrix? Neo is contacted by Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), a beautiful stranger who leads him into an underworld where he meets Morpheus. They fight a brutal battle for their lives against a cadre of viciously intelligent secret agents. It is a truth that could cost Neo something more precious than his life.
