‘Avatar/The Wolverine’ Stunt Coordinator Joins Netflix’s Live-Action ‘Cowboy Bebop’ Series – New Zealand Shoot Confirmed

HN Entertainment has learned that Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop series has added stunt coordinator Allan Poppleton, who recently worked with Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson on the Disney film Jungle Cruise.

Allan’s other credits include Avatar (New Zealand sequences), The Wolverine, Spartacus, the Evil Dead remake, Hercules, and The Hunger Games.

Cowboy Bebop is the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world…for the right price.

The cast so far consists of John Cho (Star Trek franchise) as Spike Spiegel, Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as Faye Valentine, Mustafa (Luke Cage) as Jet Black, and Alex Hassell as Vicious.

Back in May, we first revealed that filming would take place in New Zealand and we can now confirm that. There is a good chance Auckland will be the area they’ll be filming the series. Considering the various locations in the series as they jump planets, we could see other filming locations used for the show based on the natural terrain they need.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed that Netflix is able to get Weta Workshop and Weta Digital involved, given that filming will be taking place near them.

There is a good chance that we’ll end up seeing Cowboy Bebop drop sometime in 2020.
