New box office information for James Wan’s Aquaman suggests a very low drop in the second domestic weekend for the DC Comics film. Aquaman has reportedly earned $748.7 million at the global box office and we are expecting to see it cross the $800 million mark by next week. A billion dollars isn’t too far from its grasp as it’s already earned $560 million overseas.
There is a very good chance that Aquaman surpasses Batman Vs Superman very soon as the most successful DCU movie and even to become the first to cross a billion globally. A huge feat for the franchise after a couple missteps as the solo installments are looking to help secure its future along with Wonder Woman’s success story being another pillar for the studio.
This box office success should easily bankroll two more Aquaman films as TheHollywoodReporter recently suggested that a sequel is already being discussed in-house.
Once home to the most advanced civilization on Earth, the city of Atlantis is now an underwater kingdom ruled by the power-hungry King Orm. With help from royal counselor Vulko, Aquaman must retrieve the legendary Trident of Atlan and embrace his destiny as protector of the deep.
