Aquaman hit two landmarks this week has the film has surpassed both Wonder Woman and Batman v Superman at the global box office to become the highest-grossing film in DCU.
The film’s current global box office total has now reached an impression $887.6 million (via BoxOfficeMojo) as the film looks to cross $900 million and possibly the billion-dollar mark by Monday. This is fantastic news for Warner Bros. as there has been recent talk that the studio plans on focusing more on solo films and exploring new characters.
As Aquaman looks to reach over a billion dollars this will certainly see a trilogy come out of this success, the film being the first DCU movie to reach a billion.
Shazam! is next to be released in April, then the solo Joker film in October, Birds of Prey begins filming this month with its release date set for February 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 recently wrapping its production with a June 2020 release date.
