According to THR, Aquaman helmer James Wan is returning to his horror roots with an untitled thriller later this Fall.
Wan will direct and produce an original story from himself and Ingrid Bisu. Consistent collaborator New Line Cinema will distribute the film after overseeing the highly-successful Conjuring universe. Plot details are being kept under wraps but reports point out it will focus on a side of horror Wan has yet to explore.
The untitled project will begin production later this year during the Fall before the busy director sets his eyes on the Aquaman sequel, which he is expected to produce and direct as well. Interestingly enough, Wan already confirmed to Cinemablend a month ago that the superhero sequel would not be his next directorial effort.
“It won’t be Aquaman 2 just yet. I have something else I’m cooking up; I’m not ready to share just yet.”
In addition to the two previously mentioned projects, Wan’s busy schedule also includes producing the third Conjuring film currently in production and WB’s Mortal Kombat video game adaptation. The former is set to hit theaters on September 11th, 2020.
