A while back our pal Charles Murphy posted on his site a rumor that Ant-Man director Peyton Reed had been one of the directors working on Season 2 of The Mandalorian.
This information was spot-on as Reed has taken to Twitter to post a set photo from his episode shoot to celebrate May the 4th aka Star Wars Day, the image is presumably from months ago as the series wrapped back in March.

However, in that same report it was stated that Taika Waititi would return for Season 2 which was later debunked by Taika himself on Instagram, stating he was busy directing his sports film Next Goal Wins.
WAITITI: “I’m not directing any of the episodes of The Mandalorian because I was doing another film, a soccer film with Michael Fassbender. After Jojo Rabbit I decided to make a sports film, something I’ve never done, about a sport I knew nothing about and I still don’t.”
We are excited to see that the Peyton part of that story was correct.
The confirmed directors for Season 2 include Jon Favreau, Carl Weathers, Dave Filoni, Robert Rodriguez, and now Peyton Reed.
Reed is reportedly set to direct the untitled Ant-Man 3, but due to the pandemic is likely going to see it’s 2021 shoot pushed to later in the year or possibly into 2022.
Disney had mentioned a while back that Season 2 would begin airing on Disney+ in October but that could see a hiccup from COVID-19 related post-production delays. However, there hasn’t been any formal delay announcement.
