20th Century Fox has epic plans for their Mouse Guard movie as production is set to begin very soon and there is a bunch of casting announcements being made today for the Wes Ball adaptation. TheHollywoodReporter has revealed that actors Andy Serkis (Lord of The Rings, Planet of The Apes, Black Panther, Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones) have taken lead roles in the motion-capture heavy adventure film.
Andy Serkis and Thomas Brodie-Sangster have signed to star in the feature that is being directed by Wes Ball, the filmmaker behind the Maze Runner movies. Serkis is the villain of the piece, the Guard’s blacksmith known as Midnight who turns against it. Brodie-Sangster is Lieam, one of the Guard’s newest and youngest members who will be called upon to prove his bravery.
Mouse Guard is a set in a medieval world and tells of an order of mice who are the sworn protectors of their realm. Enemies range from predators such as foxes and eagles to other rodents.
ThatHashtagShow adds that Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian) has also joined the film.
Emmy Award-winning actor Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) has also joined the film’s cast in the role of Conrad. Conrad is an older mouse, who after a life of adventure on the high seas, joined the Mouse Guard as a member of their seaside outpost, Calogero.
Filming is set to begin this May in Los Angeles, California.
Weta Digital has been confirmed as handling the film’s visual effects and the motion capture of the characters.
HN Entertainment previously revealed that production designer Daniel Dorrance would be working on the film. Dorrance’s credits production design credits include action films like Maze Runner: The Death Cure, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, The Expendables 3, and A Good Day To Die Hard.
A release date has yet to be made official by 20th Century Fox for Mouse Guard.
