After considering multiple directors just a week ago, THR is reporting that Andy Serkis will indeed helm the upcoming Venom sequel for Sony.
Serkis was only one of the few filmmakers that met with the studio for the directing gig. He has now reportedly finalized the deal and will set his eyes to direct his third feature film this November. Tom Hardy is set to return as the Lethal Protector.
The actor-turned-director went to Twitter to confirm the news with an image of himself and a Venom comic issue.

Bumblebee director Travis Knight & Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Rupert Wyatt were also in the mix just a few weeks ago before Serkis ultimately landed the job.
Serkis’ last effort, Mowgli: Legend of The Jungle, landed at Netflix to lukewarm reactions from critics and audiences alike. His directorial debut Breathe didn’t fare too well but did garner positive reactions for leads Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy.
Venom 2 is without a release date at this stage, but it is expected to hit theaters in 2020.
