A third cast member has reportedly joined the cast of Amazon’s upcoming Lord of The Rings series.
Collider says that British actor Maxim Baldry best known from the BBC/HBO series Years and Years has taken a role in the Middle-Earth series.
Up-and-coming English actor Maxim Baldry, who recently played Viktor Goraya in HBO’s Years and Years, has landed a significant role in Amazon’s upcoming Lord of the Rings series, Collider has exclusively learned.
The brand new series is set during The Second-Age of Middle-Earth, taking place many many years before the events of either The Hobbit and Lord of The Rings novels. Giving Amazon and writers a little wiggle-room to put their own stamp on the franchise by tackling a wave of new characters and kingdoms previously unseen in the films.
Events such as Sauron’s rise to power, the creation of the rings of power, the fall of many kingdoms, and even Sauron’s defeat were all covered during The Second Age giving Amazo a lot of events to cover during the multiple seasons.
Maxim would be joining previously revealed cast members Markella Kavenagh and Will Poulter in the high fantasy show.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom director J.A. Bayona is expected to tackle two episodes.
Filming is officially confirmed by Amazon to return to New Zealand, something I first reported over a year ago at OmegaUnderground.
I would have to assume it will film at Stone Street Studios in Wellington once James Cameron has finished with the sound stages for the live-action portions of his Avatar sequels, as he’s currently occupying them.
This likely means that Weta Workshop and Weta Digital will get involved again as well.
