Amazon is certainly getting into the fantasy series business in a big way, they’re developing a Conan The Barbarian series and have been spending the last couple of weeks teasing their Lord of The Rings series would be taking place during The Second Age.
Now, OmegaUnderground has posted a possible production start date for Amazon’s fantasy series The Wheels of Time. Suggesting that cameras could be rolling as early as September 9th, a little later than previously thought. This could mean The Wheels of Time might end up being the first of these fantasy series to go into production.
Amazon’s television series ‘The Wheel of Time’ is currently eyeing a September 9th production start in Prague, Czech Republic. The show is an adaptation of Robert Jordan’s fantasy epic novels.
The Prague location was first mentioned by our pals over at DiscussingFilm.

However, there is a good chance that Budapest, Hungary which was recently used for Netflix’s The Witcher could also be a prime candidate, with filming six months away from its possible they haven’t secured a final location just yet. Yet, with Halo set to begin their series shoot this summer and Netflix likely to return for the second season of The Witcher, Prague might be Amazon’s best option if they plan on filming in Europe.
Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time is a story that takes place both in our past and our future. In his fantasy world, the Dark One, the embodiment of pure evil, is breaking free from his prison. … This saga is not only his story, but the story of an entire world’s struggle to deal with war and change, destruction and hope.
Uta Briesewitz (Stranger Things, Westworld, Altered Carbon) is said to be directing the first two episodes.
The more fantasy the better.
