HN Entertainment has been able to confirm that the Amazon Studios/Prime Video series The Power based on the novel by author Naomi Alderman is set to shoot in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
In The Power, the world is a recognisable place: there’s a rich Nigerian kid who lounges around the family pool; a foster girl whose religious parents hide their true nature; a local American politician; a tough London girl from a tricky family. But something vital has changed, causing their lives to converge with devastating effect. Teenage girls now have immense physical power – they can cause agonising pain and even death. And, with this small twist of nature, the world changes utterly.
Production on the 10-part series is said to begin on March 23th and will wrap on July 8th.
Moana actress Auli’i Cravalho and Leslie Mann are set to lead the series.
It will be directed by Emmy-winner Reed Morano, likely best known for directing episodes of the popular Hulu series The Handmaid’s Tale and EON’s (production company behind the Bond franchise) upcoming espionage film The Rhythm Section starring Blake Lively.
Reed is also an accomplished cinematographer, so we expect she will act as her own director of photography.
An air date for The Power has yet to be revealed.
