Amazon’s Prime Video is starting to double-down on their dad programming after tackling the Jack Ryan and Jason Bourne franchises, they’re now giving Jack Reacher (based on the Lee Child novels) a second life after the second film fizzled-out. 

The streaming service officially has greenlit their Jack Reacher series  and will now look to recast the role previously played by Tom Cruise.

Jack Reacher’s first season will be based on the novel The Killing Floor. 

Produced by Amazon Studios, Skydance Television and Paramount Television Studios, the television series will be written by Nick Santora (Scorpion, Prison Break), who will also executive produce and serve as showrunner for the series. The first season will be based on the first Jack Reacher novel, The Killing Floor.

Jack Reacher comes to the little town of Margrave looking for information on the mysterious death of a guitar player named Blind Blake. Instead, he finds one of the largest counterfeiting operations in history.

Author Lee Child made a statement via Twitter. 

According to Deadline, Amazon is also moving forward with a new spy series Citadel that will be series with multiple local language shows interconnected across the globe including Italy, India, and Mexico. A U.S. version is being considered the mothership of Citadel and will be launched first. 

The Russo Brothers who are best known for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame are producing the U.S. version of series will be starring Richard Madden (Bodyguard, Game of Thrones) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Quantico). 

Priyanka Chopra Jonas (Quantico) and Richard Madden (Bodyguard) are set to headline Citadel, Anthony and Joe Russo’s upcoming global thriller multi-series for Amazon Studios. 

The epic Citadel franchise, a co-production with Midnight Radio, is described as action-packed spy series with a compelling emotional center. Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio serve as writers and executive producers. Moran, Mike Larocca, and Joe and Anthony Russo serve as executive producers. The Italian series will be co-produced with Amazon Studios and Cattleya (Gomorrah), part of ITV Studios, and the Indian series will be developed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. (The Family Man) and produced with Amazon Studios.

Richard Madden plays the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero Ikrais in Chloe Zhao’s Eternals and is expected to have a larger role within the MCU moving forward as Eternals have joined the ranks of the Avengers in the comics. 

They’ll have to hurry up on production on Citadel before Marvel calls upon Richard Madden to make a sequel to Eternals or show up in various other MCU flicks. 

Amazon is also getting into the fantasy genre with their upcoming series The Wheel of Time and Lord of The Rings.
